Membership Requirements

As a member of Mayfair Co-op Preschool, you will have the unique opportunity to take an active role in your child's classroom. Parents and teachers working together is the heart of the co-op preschool.

Mayfair is a member-run preschool with parents assigned year-long tasks. When you become part of the Mayfair family, you have a say in what kind of year-long task you will be assigned. You may decide that you would like to be on the board and help shape the future of the school, or you may prefer a more behind-the-scenes role that can be completed on your own time. All of our members are vital in the running of our school. Please contact the Membership Chair for more information.

For the Threes and Fours programs, parents assist in the class once or twice per month. The focus is a family-friendly, flexible work schedule, which enables parents to trade participation days when necessary. Classroom work assignments include paint, craft and workbench. When there is interest, an on-site sibling nursery provides a baby-sitting option for parents working in the classroom.

Mayfair is a non-profit organization and fundraising plays a key role in meeting our annual budgets. Families each raise a minimum of $100, which can be met by participating in one or more fundraising events, paid out of pocket at a flat rate, or through a combination of the two.

Fundraising Events

Mayfair families were able to participate in any of the following fundraising events in recent years:

  • Little Ceasar’s Pizza Kits, Cookie Dough Tubs and Pie Kits
  • Annual Social Event and Silent Auction

Membership Benefits

Our children receive more one-on-one attention and enjoy a warm, nurturing atmosphere because we assist in the classroom.

We know what is happening at our children’s preschool, we understand the objectives and are knowledgeable about the curriculum.

An onsite sibling nursery may provide a babysitting option when working in the classroom.

Our active involvement in running the preschool helps maintain professional skills – and build new ones – as we devote our time to raising our children.

We learn new parenting skills while developing lifelong friendships.

Mayfair families foster strong friendships by organizing summertime group outings, play dates in the park, and activities such as tie-dying Mayfair t-shirts (pictured here).
